We get CRAZY busy around the Holidays. We ship more out at this time of year than at any other time. We pack and send customer orders and shipments out ALL DAY LONG around the Holidays.

For the second year in a row, we are offering small businesses the opportunity to include one of their marketing pieces in our mailings. We limit the number of pieces to a maximum of 2 per shipment, so your piece won't be one of many in the package. It will be the only marketing piece and/or one of two (max).

This is a great chance to get your business in front of our audience, which is mostly female dog owners who love and support animal rescue. Do you have a heart for Puppy Mill dogs? Our North Shore Animal League America photo shoot

This week I visited New York to photograph some of the gorgeous puppy mill dogs that were adopted from North Shore Animal League America (NSALA). I will follow up this post with a post (or two!) on all the amazing work NSALA does for animals, but I will just say now, that if you don't know them, you should definitely visit their website and check them out! They are the largest no-kill shelter in the WORLD!

SWEET PEA
Here is just ONE of the cutie pies I photographed on the day. It's little Sweet Pea. The tiny ball of fluff with a heart-shaped tongue. Cute, cute, cute!!! And no, you can't have her! Sweet Pea has already found a loving home of her own. NSALA does, however, help rescue puppy mill dogs like Sweet Pea on a regular basis. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY?

The U.S. celebrated Independence Day almost 2 weeks ago now, but I wanted to write now about independence and freedom since these topics are very important to me -- not only the independence and freedom that citizens of democratic societies are given, but personal freedom to live the life you want and not living the life others want for you.

For me, and most animal lovers, this transfers over to freedom for animals, too. I am working on the Puppy Mill Survivors photo book at the moment and have learned that there are over one million breeder dogs in puppy mills at the moment...These dogs are never allowed to leave their cages, some dogs are in cages so small they can only turn in circles. These dogs are never played with. They are anything but free. They are in hell. 

Sadie, pictured in the photo above with the flag draped across her, is sort of symbolizing a freedom for dogs, and so I thought it was an appropriate image to use for this post and today's theme of Independence. It's my hope that one day, all dogs, ALL ... even ones that have a certain look to them, will be given ultimate freedom .... a chance to live their lives in a safe and happy place.
